Recently I’ve been working on a new series of crochet doilies and mandalas inspired by the fascinating world under the sea. Each design in this collection is shaped by the textures, colors, and organic beauty found in marine life.

My latest creation, the Sea Urchin Mandala, draws its inspiration from the unique patterns of sea urchins.

This design features delicate spikes and rich texture that capture the essence of these beautiful sea creatures.

Throughout the project, you’ll have the chance to explore and learn a variety of new stitches and techniques — including Puff stitches, Back Post Inverse Y stitches, and “bridges.” These elements come together to create a dynamic, layered design full of character and depth.

The mandala can be made in multiple colors to emphasize the details, or in a single shade for an elegant, minimalist look. I used four contrasting colors in my sample to make the features really pop. You can work it with crochet thread for a delicate finish or with worsted weight yarn for a bold, modern version — it’s also a great way to use up leftover yarn from other projects!

One of the best ways to showcase this mandala is to mount it on a hoop, turning it into a beautiful wall decoration.

The pattern includes:
- Step-by-step written instructions
- Detailed photo tutorials
- Professional crochet charts
- Video tutorials for each round

The Sea Urchin Mandala pattern is available in my pattern stores on Ravelry and Etsy.
